Kozak’s Collision and Auto Repair has been proudly serving the Metro Detroit area for decades. The Warren location was opened in 1987 under the name Distinctive Collision by John DeAngelo, while the Clinton Township location followed in 1996, opened by Steve Zwiez as Steve’s Custom Color Collision. As the business continues to grow and evolve, both locations are currently undergoing a rebrand to reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to excellence and its dedication to providing top-notch auto repair services to the community.

A New Chapter in Ownership
Recently, a new chapter began for Kozak’s Collision and Auto Repair as Jason Kozak acquired the Clinton Township and Warren locations. These purchases mark an exciting time in the shop’s history, and with a fresh vision, both locations are being rebranded to ensure that customers continue to receive the highest level of service and satisfaction.
The Journey into the Auto Repair Business
Jason Kozak’s journey into the auto repair business began early. He grew up surrounded by cars and the fast-paced environment of an auto repair shop, as his father owned several shops. From a young age, Jason enjoyed working on cars, doing basic repairs, maintenance, and helping out around the shop. By his early 20s, he transitioned to working in the office, assisting customers, and eventually managing his father’s shops. In 2011, he took over two of his father’s shops and expanded to six locations. In 2021, a private equity group approached him and eventually bought his group of shops, which led him to the opportunity to take over the Warren & Clinton Township locations.
Meet the Team
The team at Kozak’s Collision and Auto Repair is composed of highly skilled professionals who are passionate about their craft. With 7 technicians, the team boasts a wealth of experience, including a technician with over 28 years of hands-on experience and a state master mechanic license. In addition to the technicians, the shop has 2 dedicated service advisors, a manager, and Jason, all working together to ensure that every vehicle receives the best care possible.
Family Life
When Jason Kozak isn’t at the shop, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been married for almost 18 years and have 6 children. The family lives on 30 acres about 35 miles northeast of Detroit, where they stay busy with their kids’ sports, school, and church activities. At home, they love riding ATVs on their trails, swimming in the pool (or watching the kids in the pond), fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Last year, they planted a 30-tree fruit orchard and are excited to plant a watermelon and pumpkin patch in the spring and summer. The family enjoys every moment of their busy and fulfilling life.
